Recently, President Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of Congo inspected the Kananga-Kalambambuji Road Rehabilitation Project, the 57th infrastructure project under the China-Congo comprehensive cooperation agreement, undertaken by China Railway Resources Group. He praised the project as “the road of hope” for DR Congo.
President Tshisekedi visited the gravel production line and the living quarters of the Chinese construction team on-site. He inquired about the arrival of equipment and the staffing of Chinese and Congolese employees, commending the Chinese company for overcoming logistical challenges and achieving satisfactory construction quality and progress.
The Kananga-Kalambambuji Road is located in the Kasai-Central Province of DR Congo, passing through the cities of Tshimbulu, Kampande, Luiza, and Luebo. It is a key transportation route linking Angola with border cities in DR Congo. Due to annual rainy seasons and years of neglect, the original road was severely damaged, hindering local transportation and economic development. The rehabilitation project, with a total length of approximately 230 kilometers, includes roadbed, pavement, protective structures, and auxiliary facilities upgrades. Designed as a dual-lane asphalt road, the project will greatly facilitate travel for residents along the route and improve cross-border import-export transportation upon completion.
