On January 8, the transverse beam of the No. 4 cable tower of the North Bei River Bridge, part of the Qingyuan to Huadu Highway in Guangdong, was successfully cast by China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group. This marks the completion of all transverse beams on the main towers of the bridge and the beginning of the final sprint phase for the tower crown.

Located in Qingcheng District, Qingyuan City, the North Bei River Bridge spans 1,440 meters, with a main span of 360 meters. It is a four-tower concrete cable-stayed bridge with dual cable planes, serving as a critical component of the Qingyuan-Huadu Expressway project. The transverse beams on the cable towers are 5 meters wide and have an internal cavity height of 9.5 meters.

The transverse beams are arch-shaped, exceeding 100 meters in height with large spans. Considering their design characteristics, the project team innovatively adopted a combination of Bailey beams and steel arch frames for structural support. They optimized the scaffolding installation process to ensure structural quality and safety. Additionally, embedded climbing cones were strategically arranged to facilitate safe and efficient removal of the templates and scaffolding.

The Qingyuan-Huadu Expressway is a key transportation infrastructure project under Guangdong Province’s 14th Five-Year Plan. Once completed, it will establish a northern corridor from Foshan through Qingyuan, enhance the Greater Bay Area’s connectivity with Qingyuan, and play a significant role in promoting the integrated development of Guangzhou and Qingyuan.
